Humm products are formulated with all-natural botanicals, clays, essential oils and ingredients that are rich in nutrients and vitamins and full of skin loving properties. Our base oil and butter recipes have been chosen to give you a wonderful natural bathing experience that is great for you and the planet. We source as locally and sustainably as possible - and whenever possible, we choose certified organic ingredients. Our aim is for minimal low waste production and packaging.
Our Choices for You
Are you choice weary? We know we are, so we have taken the mental grind and endless label analyzing out of it for you. We promise we are natural, health supporting and environmentally conscious with our choices for you.
Our most important decision was to never use artificial colorants or synthetic fragrances. EVER.
Humm supports those who choose vegan products (v) and those who are happy to include the benefits of animal by-products as part of their self-care routine. We value your choice, either way.
Our products are free of palm oil, artificial fragrances, synthetic and lab produced colors, harmful petro-chemicals, toxins, parabens, animal products and bleaches.
Some animal by-products we include in our non-vegan range are milk (cow and goat), honey, bee pollen, tussah silk and lanolin. Our products are lard and tallow free.
Cold Saponification:
Our bar soaps and face soaps are *superfatted with quality oils that have been carefully chosen and tested to be as gentle but as effective as possible in application.
*SUPERFAT: Oils and butters that are in addition to saponification requirements that help to nourish the skin and create a great after-use feel. It requires a little math, a little chemistry and a little experimentation to get the feel just right.
Sodium Hydroxide (lye) is used to saponify our oil and butter bases to form a glycerine-enriched soap. This cold process method of soap-making is centuries old and is one of the purest forms of skin care available. Lye was traditionally made from wood ash but today it is produced commercially so that it is consistent and contaminant free.
All the Beautiful Things
Our base recipes have been formulated with a blend of plant-based oils and butters including, olive oil, shea butter, sunflower oil, rice bran oil, castor oil, cocoa butter, mango butter, coconut and avocado oils. We also use some other speciality oils throughout our range, knowing that each oil can bring something unique to the finished product.

Castor Oil: Promotes cell turnover and has high detox and purging properties. It has strong anti-bacterial and anti-microbial properties and is known to reduce inflammation. We use small amounts of castor oil in our bar soap recipes to also create a wonderful lather.
Cocoa Butter: This gem is extremely moisturizing and great for dry or chapped skin. The high amounts of fatty acids found in Cocoa butter help create a protective barrier that holds in moisture.
Coconut Oil: High in medium chain fatty acids, this oil is known for its anti-inflammatory, anti-microbial and anti-fungal properties. It has been known to help relieve some skin conditions such as eczema and psoriasis. In soap, it helps to create an amazing lather and also extend bar life.
Hemp Oil: Hemp seed oil penetrates the skin quickly and gets to work moisturizing and repairing damaged skin. This oil is high in protein and is valued in cosmetic use.

Meadowfoam Oil: This unique oil is renowned for its skin feel and moisturizing abilities. It’s known as an emollient and is prized for its moisture-locking abilities.
Olive Oil: Contains potent anti-oxidants and “squalene”, a lipid found in our own skin cells. It helps to moisturize and nourish the skin. This star oil has been shown to reduce the signs of ageing, smooth out skin texture and hydrate many skin conditions. Known to help reduce redness and reduce inflammation.
Rice Bran Oil: Brings mildness and gentleness to skin care. Perfect for sensitive, mature or delicate skin. It is often added to sun care products for its UV-hindering properties. It is tolerated by the majority of skin types, including combination skins.
Rosehip Oil: The beautiful amber seeds that release their oils are high in essential fatty acids, GLA and Vitamin C. The oil can contain between 30% and 40% gamma linoleic acid, which is valuable in treating skin problems such as eczema and psoriasis. Known for rapid healing and loved for its anti-ageing properties. Best used as a carrier oil or leave-on product.
Shea Butter: One of the heavier oils, it can be great to help in the cold or dry conditions to assist with a protective skin barrier. Ultra-moisturizing, it’s protective layer can reduce inflammation and smooth out rough skin.
